DIRECTIONS TO WHERE WE SING

The Bluecoat Academy, Aspley Lane, Nottingham.  Post code for satnav: NG8 5GY.

Our booking at the school is from 6.45pm - 9.15pm and we must keep within those times.

We meet in the chapel on the first floor in the new part of the school for our weekly rehearsals.

(Please note - our end of term concert for friends and family will be in the Recital Hall on the ground floor, accessible from main reception.)

On rehearsal nights, access to the chapel will be from 6.45pm each week.  We will start to sing promptly at  7.10pm, ending rehearsal at 9.10pm, which leaves 5 minutes to vacate the premises.

Bluecoat Academy is right on the Ring Road and very easy to spot.

Driving: East-bound along the Ring Road, go past the traffic lights at Nuthall Road, and Bluecoat is one junction further along the Ring Road, where Aspley Lane (B690) intersects the Ring Road (A6514 – Western Boulevard).  Turn right on to Aspley Lane.

West-bound along the Ring Road, at the next junction after Beechdale Baths, turn left at the traffic lights on to Aspley Lane.

Coming out of town on Alfreton Road (A610), turn left at the traffic lights immediately at the end of Bobbers Mill Bridge onto Aspley Lane.  Cross the new set of traffic lights at the Ring Road junction.  The school is on the right.

Coming from the direction of the M1 and Nuthall on the A610, drive to the Ring Road, turn right and go to the next traffic lights where the school is on the right.

There are currently building works in progress at the main car park, so use the car parks through the 2nd and 3rd gates on the right, you may then walk along the building to the main entrance.

Getting into the Building: Entrance from the playground is via a glass door in the new part of the building. This door opens at the foot of a flight of stairs leading up to a foyer area outside the chapel.  This door will be open at 6.45pm and remain open to admit latecomers.

If you have a wheelchair, or limited mobility, turn right inside the gate and park in the 'disabled' space on the right, outside the front door, and come into the main reception area to access the lift.

If you arrive by bike, you may bring it in through the front door and leave it in the main reception area, locked to anything suitable, at your own risk.

If you park on the street and walk onto the school premises, please enter the main reception area via the front door.

Getting to the first floor: There is a lift for the use of wheelchair users, cyclists and pedestrians, accessible from the main reception area, via the front door.

To access the lift, follow the corridor through two sets of double doors – the first marked ‘Recital Hall’, the second marked ‘Design & Technology’.  The lift is on your left.  Take the lift up to the first floor.  The chapel is ahead on your right.

Cyclists and pedestrians, please note we do NOT have permission to use any internal stairs - our official access from main reception is via the lift.  Before 7.15pm you should NOT walk round to the back of the building to take the stairs.  There is no path for pedestrians and there will be a lot of moving vehicles. We don't want any accidents.

If you walk but have limited mobility, be aware that the lift is quite a long way from the front door. You may prefer to park at the back of the building and tackle the stairs.  You have the choice. Park at the front for the lift, at the  back for the stairs.

Late arrivals: Sometimes people are unavoidably late.  If the sliding gate is closed when you arrive you will need to press the buzzer and wait for a response from one of the security staff. If they are busy this may take a while - be patient!  There is no other access by car or on foot except through the sliding gate.

If you walk or cycle and this happens to you, PLEASE NOTE that access via the front door, through main reception, using the lift up to the chapel, will be up to 7.15pm only. After that time the front door will be shut.  The only access then is via the stairs so you will have to walk round to the rear of the building and use the back door.  By then, we will have started singing, so you should be able to walk round safely, but still be vigilant for vehicles and keep to the side of the road.

Departure: The lift can be used to go down from 9.10pm when we finish singing, and the front door will be open.

PLEASE - people on foot or cycling, beware departing vehicles, and drivers keep an eye out for pedestrians and bikes.  There will be a lot of moving traffic at that time. Take care.
